RemoteAgents

What are RemoteAgents?

RemoteAgents are real time 3D avatars built on top of a high performance software rendering system. The current implementation of RemoteAgents is entirely written in 1.1 jdk compliant Java. This means that not only do RemoteAgents work on Linux, Mac OSX, and Windows, but that they work on all versions of Java released since 1997 including the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine (msjvm) which shipped by default with Windows XP.

The RemoteAgents product is encapsulated in a single Java Archive (*.jar) file which resides on a web server. The JAR is currently less than 200KB in size and therefore is easily cached by the client web browser as the default Java plugin cache size in most cases is 1MB; therefore, all subsequent usage of the RemoteAgents rendering system will require no load on your server(s) and utilize zero bandwidth from the client1.

Integration with RemoteAgents is simple and only requires JavaScript or VBScript in order to accomplish. The RemoteAgents JAR contains a specific applet which your web page will reference via an object or applet tag (see the RemoteAgents Deployment Guide and you can simply add client side script to your page to control the avatar's actions. The avatar is controlled through an extensive API (see the RemoteAgents Quick Reference Guide that allows you to make the avatar speak2, answer questions2, perform gestures and animations, change appearance, manipulate cameras and lighting, and manage a whole host of options designed to make the process as simple and as flexible as you need it to be.

1 If you deploy and upgraded version of RemoteAgents to your web servers, the new JAR will then be downloaded in order to replace the previous JAR file
2 Requires a valid LogicalEngine license
